Transvection regulates the sex-biased expression of a fly X-linked gene

چکیده

Enhancer-gene interactions drive split In many species across the animal kingdom, male and female phenotypes differ. One such example is wing spot seen in Drosophila biarmipes flies but not flies. Galouzis Prud'homme investigate X-linked yellow gene its enhancer. Investigating genetics of trait, they found evidence that male-specific phenotype caused by a trans interaction between enhancer silences when it present only one copy (which has single X chromosome) versus two copies female. This thus appears to be regulated differing genomic an phenomenon known as transvection. Science , this issue p. 396

Prenatal sex determination in suspicious cases of X-linked recessive diseases by the amelogenin gene

Objective(s):To determine the fetal discernment in suspected cases of sex linked recessive disease in the first trimester of pregnancy. Materials and Methods: After collection of 100 Chorionic Villi samples, the DNAs were extracted and baby gender was determined. Meanwhile, after increasing the sensitivity, the system was able to detect the sex of each cell which was obtained by biopsy. Resul...

Sex-Biased Gene Expression during Head Development in a Sexually Dimorphic Stalk-Eyed Fly

Stalk-eyed flies (family Diopsidae) are a model system for studying sexual selection due to the elongated and sexually dimorphic eye-stalks found in many species. These flies are of additional interest because their X chromosome is derived largely from an autosomal arm in other flies. To identify candidate genes required for development of dimorphic eyestalks and investigate how sex-biased expr...

Sex-biased gene expression and evolution of the x chromosome in nematodes.

Studies of X chromosome evolution in various organisms have indicated that sex-biased genes are nonrandomly distributed between the X and autosomes. Here, to extend these studies to nematodes, we annotated and analyzed X chromosome gene content in four Caenorhabditis species and in Pristionchus pacificus. Our gene expression analyses comparing young adult male and female mRNA-seq data indicate ...

Disentangling the relationship between sex-biased gene expression and X-linkage.

X chromosomes are preferentially transmitted through females, which may favor the accumulation of X-linked alleles/genes with female-beneficial effects. Numerous studies have shown that genes with sex-biased expression are under- or over-represented on the X chromosomes of a wide variety of organisms. The patterns, however, vary between different animal species, and the causes of these differen...
